Roland JV 1080 (Session, Techno, House, VintageSynth) Here's their kit list, sick amount of synths: Respect to 'real' producers like mista who do actually 'go in' and engineer/sound design their own beats and still manage to get the immense, vengeance power with hard work and honed technique.

Why has it taken 4 or more years for the actual formula (well.a sample cd) of their beats to become common knowledge? sub focus and pendu are constantly asked about their beats and they feed you loads of bollox techniques when all they needed to say was vengeance. where as the only knowledge passed on was the name of a sample cd. and that maybe rob swire passed on his knowledge to a few heads like sub focus. I assumed that achieving this sound was very intricate sound design along with use of particular equipment used in a certain way. obviously impossible with out guidance, technique etc. I always wondered how pendulum came about with these new 'amazing beats' then sub focus came with an almost blueprint copy of their sound. Iv mentioned 'the formula' on here before, i think when referring to tantrum desire having pendu esc beats. Srsly - the difference between these sounds and 24 bit, unprocessed, clean samples is like night and day. how about now: fed through channel, group and mix compression. This is HUGE fucking problem that I cannot beleive anyone else hasnt flagged up. Where does that heavy-sounding kick actually start? fuck - hard to even say as its levelled off until 50% into the waveform.

This adds weight to the idea some are ripped?Ģ) Heavy HEAVY compression on nearly all kicks and snares. The Hi hats are also frequently hissy (as if over-enhanced) and seemingly dont sit well without EQ. Kicks and snares are therefore often kind of boxy. Snares lack true tops (the "air" or clarity range") and kicks the deepest freqs. infact any of the battery drums.ġ) Almost bandlimited. example - battery synthetic drums vol 1 or 2. Wack them next to some clean 24bit samples and hear the difference. Right, I know many of you are making big tracks with these samples, but I question anyone who claims these are "the best drum samples ever" or even "too good".
